8TH FREE MEDICAL CAMP - 2009 APRIL 17 FRIDAY, DOHA

History Programme Notice Invitation Map Home Press Release Layout

.

The camp was initiated in 2002 with an aim of assisting the underprivileged sections among Qatar’s expatriate communities, who had been suffering from various serious illnesses and health problems.

Five follow-up medical camps were conducted in 2008 for selected patients who needed continuous treatment and care, and 50 patients were provided with free health cards. IIAQ volunteers have been frequently visiting patients at different hospitals and providing assistance to the needy and deserving.

The IIAQ had helped set up a dialysis unit at a hospital in India to provide treatment at subsidised rates. Similarly, arrangements are being made to set up another dialysis unit and a diagnostic centre in one of the densely populated south Indian cities.

The camp’s main objective is to educate the public to maintain a healthy life. This year’s focus is mainly on diabetes, hypertension and asthma/allergy.
