Doha:  8th Free Medical camp for low income expatriates jointly organized by Indian Islamic Association Qatar (IIAQ) and Indian Medical Association Qatar Chapter (IMA) will be held today at New Salata, Al Istiqlal Boys Secondary School. Maximum efforts have been put in by all association members to transform   the Al Istiqlal Boys Secondary School into a medical camp so that it can facilitate the medical checkup for all the 1,300 people who have already been registered to attend the medical camp.  Registration Cards for the medical checkup for patients with less than 1500 riyal as their monthly income have been distributed in advance through the association members to all those who have already registered .  Camp officials have informed that all those who have received the registration cards should bring the cards while they attend their respective treatment sessions.   The camp which will be held in three sessions will start at 7:00AM in the morning and will be up to 7.00 pm.

In the two storied school building,   the classrooms will be transformed and equipped as Doctor’s Clinics, counseling room, Pharmacy, Lab, Oral check up, Eye test, Camp Control Rooms, Sugar-Blood Pressure check up and Data entry rooms.  More than 100 doctors and even more than 150 paramedical staff will be providing their unselfish services at the camp.  This year also, Qatar Petroleum Medical Department is cooperating with the medical camp by offering the   services of its Doctors and paramedical Staff.   500 volunteers including women and members of the IYA and Indian Islamic Association will be rendering their services in the various sections.

There will be a 600 Sq.m pavilion erected at school compound which will facilitate the medical exhibition, book stall, medical stall, information counter etc.  Blood Donation unit will also function since the start of the medical camp in the morning.

Dr. Sanjeev Kohli (Charge de Affairs, Indian Embassy) and  Mr. Adil Mutawwa (Executive Director, Group Communication, Qtel) will do the  Official Inauguration of the camp at 8:30 AM. Abdullatif Abdul Aziz Al-Shemmari (Director, Public Relations & International Relations) of Health Ministry and important delegates from Hamad Medical Corporation will be present at the occasion.

Health awareness Classes will be conducted from 9:00AM in many sessions in the school auditorium.  In the morning session Dr. Monahan  V. K., and Dr. Antony George Joseph  will take classes on  subjects like “Diabetes – Today”, and “contagious  diseases”.  Afternoon session will be based on “Obesity and Health Problems”, Vaccination and  Parenting laws.  Dr. Abdul Gafoor Kuniyil, Dr. Abdul Rashid and Dr. Mohammed Hassan P. P. will conduct these classes respectively. A class will be conducted exclusively for women starting at 6:15 PM on the subject “Infertility in women” by Dr. Sujata Krishna Kumar and the entry will be restricted only for women. A workshop based on the subject “ Cardiac Arrest:  Significance of  moments “ will be conducted from morning 9:00 AM until 5:00PM in 6 various sessions.  Dr. Abdul Rashid –Consultant of Cardiology Department and Dr. Biju Gafoor – Accident & Emergency Department Specialist, both from Hamad Hospital, will lead the workshop.  Qatar Traffic Department will conduct a presentation on Qatar’s new Traffic Rules and Regulations.

Weill Cornell Medical College  and Indian, Pakistani , and Bangladeshi schools will participate in the medical exhibition to be conducted at the pavilion.  General Health Problems, cleanliness etc are the subjects that will be showcased by the students.  One of the motives of the exhibition is also to develop the creativity of the students as informed by the association. Video clips on health issues will also be shown in the exhibition.  General Public will be allowed to visit the exhibition from 8:00 AM in the morning till 7:00 PM.
